One of the top Chinese OEMs, Xiaomi-backed Black Shark has today announced a refreshed variant of its flagship gaming smartphone Black Shark 3. Named as the Black Shark 3S, this new handset possess most of the features of its counterpart but upgraded few parts to the latest iterations. Let’s check them all;

Black Shark 3S Specifications
The all-new Black Shark 3S sports a 6.67″ AMOLED display with 1080 × 2400p resolution. It got no notches or punch-holes and supports HDR 10+ and 120Hz refresh rate, which is a fine upgrade from its counterpart, the original Black Shark 3. Further, with 20:9 aspect ratio, it maintains the same 500 nits of peak brightness and 82.4% screen-to-body ratio as in Black Shark 3.
Under the hood, it’s got the Snapdragon’s 865 SoC, which comes with Adreno 650 GPU and the top core clocks at 2.84Ghz as maximum. With Android 10 as the base, it runs on JOYUI 12 OS bloatware, which comes with screen mirroring capability to a computer screen via the USB port. Thus, you can play games using a keyboard and mouse, which runs at 60fps and 40ms latency.
This handset has 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM with upto 512GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage. In terms of imaging, the Black Shark 3S has a triple rear setup as 64-megapixel (f/1.8) as the primary sensor, followed by a 13-megapixel (f/2.3) lens as an ultra-wide lens with 120° coverage, and a 5-megapixel (f/2.2) lens as a depth sensor. These are capable of recording 4K at 60fps.
Upfront, there’s a single 20-megapixel (f/2.0) lens placed on the thick bezel. Talking about the gaming features, it uses the heat pipe and a cooling fan to dissipate heat and has two pressure-sensitive zones on the screen that can be set for specific actions. Further, users can enable game macros to have several sequential steps to be done automatically.

Finally, it has all the required connectivities like Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi, GPS, USB Type-C, audio jack and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The entire system is powered by a 4729mAh battery, that supports 65W fast charging to juice up 100% in just 38 minutes.
Black Shark 3S Pricing and Availability
This handset is currently available in China and maybe announce for other markets soon. With August 4th as initial shipping date, the 12GB + 128GB is priced at ¥4,000 (~$574) and the 12GB + 256GB is at ¥4,400 (~$631). Though there’s a 512GB variant announced with the same RAM configuration, it’s not yet available for sale.
