MediaTek has launched a new chip called Dimensity 1000C, which is a stripped version of actual Density 1000. This has fair clocking speeds and has a fine AI unit to support various intelligent tasks with ease. It’s reported to come with LG’s Velvet 5G on T-Mobile, making it the first phone to ship with Dimensity chip outside China.
LG Velvet 5G to Come with MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000C Chip
Though MediaTek chips offer fair features than Qualcomm’s, they’re still equipped in mid-range or entry-level phones till date due to their limited power. This has been the story until MediaTek announced Dimensity series, it’s flagship 5G chips. Now, it came up with a new chip called Dimensity 1000C, which is a slightly stripped variant of actual Dimensity 1000 chip.
It has 4 Cortex-A77 cores and 4 Cortex-A55 cores – all clocking at 2GHz. Ut comes with Mali-G57 GPU and MediaTek’s AI processing unit (APU 3.0). It supports LPDDR4X RAM upto 12GB with 1866MHz speeds, and the UFS 2.2 versioned onboard storage. In terms of display, it can support display with a resolution upto FHD+ (2520×1080) and with 120Hz refresh rate.

It also has HDR10+ and a 5-core ISP supporting up to 4 concurrent cameras. In this, it supports a single camera of up to 64MP or dual setup of up to 32MP + 16MP cameras with AV1 hardware decoding support. Besides Wi-Fi 5a and Bluetooth 5.1, it comes with an integrated 5G modem that supports sub-6GHz frequencies only. Since it’s designed for upper mid-range phones, it has no mmWave 5G support.
This processor, made on 7nm process and supports multiple voice assistants, will be equipped in LG’s Velvet 5G handset. The phone will be the first one to possess a Dimensity chip, which is sold outside of China. The LG Velvet comes with a 6.8″ FHD+ display with 60Hz refresh rate and 6GB of RAM. With 4000mAh battery, it has a triple rear setup as 48-megapixel, and 8-megapixel and a 5-megapixel.
