Xiaomi’s Redmi has a new handset launched in Spain today. After rushing with Note series last month, the Chinese OEM has now unveiled a standard handset of 9-series. The single model, Redmi 9 was uncovered today in Spain with no word on the global market launch yet. Till then, learn what it has got;

Redmi 9 Specifications

The all-new Redmi 9 has a 6.53″ FHD+ display with 1080×2340 resolution and a water-drop notch. With 19.5:9 aspect ratio, it has 400 nits of peak brightness and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Moving onto internals, Redmi 9 runs on MediaTek’s Helio G80 CPU with Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. The software is of Mi’s native MIUI 12 based on Android 10.

This handset comes in two storage variants of either 32GB or 64GB, paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM, respectively. It has got a dedicated slot to expand the storage too. Coming to cameras, it has a quad rear setup as 13-megapixel (f/2.2) primary sensor, an 8-megapixel (f/2.2) as ultra-wide angular and 118° FoV, a 5-megapixel (f/2.2) macro lens and a 2-megapixel (f/2.4) depth sensor. This setup can record 1080p video at 30fps.

Upfront, there’s an 8-megapixel (f/2.0) camera stuffed into the notch. It has several connectivity options like WiFi, FM Radio, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5, GPS, AGPS, audio jack, USB Type-C and even an infrared sensor and NFC. Finally, it is powered by a massive 5020mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging.

Redmi 9 Pricing and Availability

This handset comes in Sunset Purple, Carbon Gray, and Ocean Green colors, and will be available for Spain initially. The two variants, 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB are priced at €149 and €179 respectively. There’s an introductory offer period happening before the official sale from June 15th onwards, where buyers can knock off €10 from each variant.

The official sale begins from June 18th onwards and will be sold via online and offline channels. These include Amazon, Carrefour, Worten, Alcampo, Phone House, Mi.com, and Mi stores. While it’s available only in Spain as of now, the global debut is yet to be announced.
