While everyone’s terming the high-end handset of their brands as flagship, here’s Xiaomi, making a flagship of flagship. The company’s latest offering, Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is a true masterpiece since it covers all the sections equally, and at a great range.
Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Specifications
This handset is launched as a celebration of Xiaomi’s 10th anniversary, and here’s everything you need to know about it;
Display
It boasts with a 6.67″ FHD+ OLED display with 1080 × 2340p resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It supports HDR 10+, 120Hz refresh rate and equipped with 1 billion color pixels! It’s protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and has 800 nits of peak brightness. The waterfall display gives the premium look and has a punch-hole design on the top left.
Chipset
This handset comes with effective technologies to keep the temperature down while gaming. Some like multi-layer graphite, VC liquid cooling and thermal sensor array cooling management. It runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out of the box and equips Snapdragon 865 SoC chipset. This 7nm+ processor clocks at 2.84Ghz at the peak, and comes with Adreno 650 to give you the best hardware for gaming.
Storage and Cameras
While it has no slot for expanding storage, it comes with up to 16GB of RAM and upto 512GB of onboard storage. Regarding the cameras, it has a quad rear set-up as 48-megapixel (f/1.9) as a primary sensor which is custom manufactured, followed by another 48-megapixel (f/4.1) telephoto lens, which is a Sony IMX586 sensor with OIS and insane zooming capabilities, like with 5x optical zoom and 120x hybrid zoom.
The other two lenses include a 12-megapixel (f/2.0) lens with 2x optical zoom and a 20-megapixel (f/2.2) ultra-wide lens with 128° coverage. These sensors can capture 8K video with laser auto-focus and at flicker-free recording.
Upfront, there’s a 20-megapixel (f2.3) lens as an ultra-wide angular. Usage of two 48-megapixel over the highly premium 108-megapixel as in Mi 10 Pro is worth since the zooming capabilities in here unreachable by any phone as of now.
While the rear setup can record 8K at 24fps, it can also record 4K at 30fps or 60fps. The front camera is fair enough to capture 1080p videos at 30fps. Though this is a slight downgrade from Mi 10 Pro, it suffices this lacking in the rear set-up.
While it ditches the audio jack, it comes with latest connectivities like Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, GPS, infrared port and a USB 2.0 Type-C.

Further, it also has a 50W fast charging support which can power the battery full in 40 minutes. Xiaomi sells this charger of 55W separately for ¥199 (~$29). This handset even supports reverse wireless charging at 10W.
Pricing and Availability
The Mi 10 Ultra comes in two color variants as Mercury Silver and Obsidian Black. There’s also a rear Transparent variant that showcases the internal parts. Regarding pricing, the 8GB + 128GB variant is priced at ¥5,299 (~$766), followed by the 8GB + 256GB variant for ¥5,599 (~$809), the 12GB + 256GB variant for ¥5,999 (~$867) and the high-end 16GB + 512GB variant for ¥6,999 (~$1011). These are already available for the Chinese market, but the international availability is yet to be announced.
Our Verdict
This Mi 10 Ultra resembles most of its successor, Mi 10 Pro which was launched earlier this year. What’s improved in this handset is the imaging section, where the sensors are capable of extreme zooming, and also sharper photography. Besides, bumping up the fast battery charging to 120W support is yet another feature that makes it stand out of the the rest flagships.
