As Samsung is already having a unique reservation in the premium class, it is in the pursuit of strengthening its budget segment. The South Korean OEM has launched Galaxy A02 today, which is a slightly stripped-down variant of Galaxy A02s launched last year. Here’s more about it;
Galaxy A02 Specifications
The all-new Galaxy A02 has a 6.5″ IPS HD+ display with a dewdrop notch. It has a 720 × 1600p display resolution in a 20:9 aspect ratio. With MediaTek MT6739 CPU clocking at 1.3GHz, it’s paired with PowerVR GE8100 GPU and has 3GB of RAM. It has a 32GB eMMC 5.1 onboard storage with a MicroSD slot for expanding storage.
On the software front, it comes with Android 10 out-of-the-box having Samsung’s One UI 2.0 over it. In cameras, it has a dual-rear setup of 13-megapixel (f/1.9) as primary sensor and a 2-megapixel (f/2.4) as a macro lens. Upfront, there’s a 5-megapixel (f/2.0) lens for selfies. With all the required connectivities including the audio jack and a MicroUSB 2.0, it has a large 5000mAh battery with 7.75W fast charging support.
Comparing it to the Galaxy A02s, which was launched in November last year, this handset has the triple camera pulled down and fast charging support reduced by 2.25W. Yet, it maintains the same specifications in terms of display, storage, and battery capacity, although, the core chipset of Snapdragon 450 was replaced by MediaTek’s.
Galaxy A02 Pricing and Availability
This new budget handset is aggressively priced at a flat $100 (THB 2,999) for the sole 3GB + 32GB variant and comes in Black and Blue colors. This will initially be launched in emerging markets like India, Indonesia, etc, and will eventually make it into developed nations like the US and Europe.
