It’s true that OnePlus is having the idea of launching a smartwatch for nearly half a decade, but it hasn’t shown up with anything till now. While we speculate this to launch as soon as next month, a listing in the Indian certification site drives our belief further, bringing the launch date closer.
India certifies OnePlus smartwatch
OnePlus has drawn designs for its smartwatch back in 2015 and made that as a side project for highlighting their phones. And since they got the adequate popularity now, they’re finally launching their planned smartwatch in Q1 of this year. While there are no details revealed about it yet, it’s expected to come alongside OnePlus 9 or be announced individually next month.
May the company has been holding all the holes for leaking information about their upcoming smartwatch, we haven’t heard much about it till now. All we knew, just as others, is that the watch will have around classic design like the Vivo smartwatch and may sport the Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC.
Also, a leak by Digital Chat Station earlier showed the smartwatch’s Cyberpunk 2077 edition strap, which is black and has OnePlus branding on it. Now, it’s confirmed that OnePlus is launching not just one, but two smartwatches after all. Both these devices are codenamed W501GB and W301GB on the Bureau of Indian Standards site.
While one could be a Wi-Fi only variant, the other could be an LTE one. The listing doesn’t have any other details though, but it at least tips off the imminent launch. Considering the loyal base of OnePlus, these devices may see great sales as expected, but it’s all about the functionality they serve, which tells the real worth of buying it.
