Dallas area hit by 1-in-1,000-year flood; cars float in water-filled roads

Some areas of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport are without power. Passengers should verify flight status with the airlines and arrive early.

Today, more than 200 planes have been cancelled and 1,000 delayed.

Dallas Love Field has cancelled 150 flights.

This morning, Dallas police responded to 40 high water calls. Residents were cautioned to expect detours.

Early this week, heavy rain threatens north Texas, central and east Texas, Louisiana, southern Arkansas, and Mississippi.

Over the past 24 hours, northeast Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana, experienced 4 to 7 inches of rain.
