Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, has launched its new smartphone Redmi Note 9 with MediaTek Helio G85 chipset and a quad-camera setup. The phone is fourth in the list of Note 9 series. The company has already launched Redmi Note 9 Pro, Pro Max, and 9s.
Redmi Note 9 was announced on April 30, 2020 by Xiaomi through an online event, streamed on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

Redmi Note 9 – Specification and Features
After the launch of Redmi Note 9 Pro (Redmi Note 9 Pro Max in India), Redmi fans were waiting for Redmi Note 9 smartphone. So, Xiaomi unveiled its Redmi Note 9 phones globally.
Here are the specifications and features you should know about the Redmi Note 9.
Display
Note 9 features a huge 6.53-inches FHD+ IPS LCD display. It has a resolution of 2340 x 1080, with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, which is exactly the same as the Mi Note 10 lite.
The display has a peak brightness of 450 nits, color contrast ratio of 1500:1, and ~395 ppi density. It comes with the protection layer of Gorilla Glass 5 and Splash-proof nano-coating on top as well.

Camera
On the back, Note 9 has a quad-camera configuration where you get to see a 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 sensor (wide, f/1.79) as the main sensor, an 8-megapixel Ultra-wide sensor (f/2.2) with the FOV of 118 degrees and 2-megapixel depth camera (f/2.4) and at last, you will see a 2-megapixel Macro camera (f/2.4) as well. This camera setup can record 1080p videos @30fps.
On the front, this device sports a single 13-megapixel camera with f/2.3 aperture that is capable to record videos of 1080p@30fps.
Processor
Note 9 is powered by MediaTek Helio G85, which is an octa-core processor with a focus on gaming smartphone. It is paired with Mali-G52 MC2 GPU from ARM. The configuration of the octa-core processor goes as 2 x Cortex-A75 @ 2.0 GHz and 6 x Cortex-A55 @ 1.8 GHz.
The MediaTek Helio G85 chip features HyperEngine Game Technology, a technology that allows a single smartphone antenna to be connected to two Wi-Fi routers or two bands simultaneously (2.4GHz/5GHz).
RAM and Storage
In terms of RAM and storage, the phone comes with 3GB and 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM paired with 64GB and 128GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage which expandable up to 128GB through a dedicated microSD card slot provided onboard.
Software
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 runs on Android 10 with MIUI 11 on top of it.
Other Features
The phone comes with features like fingerprint scanner (rear-mounted), 3.5 mm headphone jack, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, proximity, compass, NFC support, and IR Blaster.

The device supports 5G connectivity and 5G does suck up a lot of battery. So, to maintain a better battery performance, Xiaomi has stuffed the device with a massive 5020 mAh battery which also supports somewhat faster 18W fast charging. In addition, it support 9W reverse charging as well.

Redmi Note 9 is available in three attractive color variants, which are:

- Midnight Grey
Redmi Note 9 – Price
Xiaomi has been doing a tremendous job of providing the best possible features while maintaining affordable price tags. Redmi Note 9 has been released as a budget mid-range phone, so pricing will be maintained accordingly.
The base variant for with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage is priced for $199 whereas the top-end variant with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage has the price tag of $249.
