Redmi 9A and 9C launched with 5000mAh battery, 6.53-inch display, MediaTek Helio SoC

Xiaomi’s spin off-brand, Redmi has launched two new phones in Malaysia. Named as Redmi 9A and 9C, these handsets are stripped-down versions of actual Redmi 9 phone. These are placed at entry-level positions, with compromising in chipset and boosting in battery and cameras. Let’s see what else they got.

Redmi 9A


This handset sports a 6.53″ HD+ display with 720×1600 resolution. It carries a dot-drop notch style and runs on Android 10 based MIUI 11. The handset’s works are processed by MediaTek’s Helio G25 SoC, which is an octa-core processor coming with PowerVR GPU. It has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.

With respect to imaging, Redmi 9A has a single rear camera as 13-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture, and an upfront camera as 5-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture. Finally, it’s powered by a massive 5000mAh battery with 10W fast charging support. It has all the required connectivities like a USB port, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, audio jack and even fingerprint and infrared sensors.

Redmi 9C


The all-new Redmi 9C shares most of the specifications as its counterpart, Redmi 9A. It has the same display style and features, software, storage variant, and battery. But it varies in terms of cameras and chipset.

It’s processed by the MediaTek’s Helio G35 SoC and has triple rear cameras as, a 13-megapixel (f/2.2) primary sensor, a 2-megapixel (f/2.4) as a macro lens and a 2-megapixel (f/2.4) depth sensor. Upfront, there’s a similar 5-megapixel lens with f/2.2 aperture.

Pricing and Availability


The Redmi 9A has a single storage variant as 2GB + 32GB, which is priced at RM 359, but can be purchased for an introductory offer at RM 319, available via Lazada. The sale starts from July 7th and it’s available in Twilight Blue, Midnight Grey and Peacock Green colours.

On the other hand, the Redmi 9C too has a single variant as 2GB + 32GB, which will be available for purchase at the end of July. It’s priced at RM 429 and comes in Sunrise Orange, Midnight Grey and Twilight Blue colours.

Also, according to a Xiaomi poster, both Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C will be an additional 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB variants coming, but it’s unclear about their pricing and global availability.
