Oppo has launched a new phone silently, which is a refreshed variant of previous Oppo A53. The new handset has a lot of upgrades from its earlier counterpart and comes as a direct successor for Oppo A52. The new phone was scheduled to launch in India on August 25th but has already launched today in Indonesia. Here’s everything it got;
Oppo A53 Specifications
This new handset has a 6.5″ LCD with the same 720p resolution but has about 83% screen-to-body ratio and 90Hz refresh rate. This is a huge bump along with the punch-hole display design. It runs on Android 10 based ColorOS 7.2.
Under the hood, it has the Snapdragon’s 460 SoC running for processing the system work. This surprised us a bit since how Oppo chose to a low-grade processor, whereas the five-year-old initial A53 model used Snapdragon 665 SoC. But, here’s the catch. Snapdragon 460 is a new offering from Qualcomm that has even more clocking speeds than SD 665 SoC.
Further, it’s coupled with Adreno 610 GPU, which is fair at these days. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, which is if UFS 2.1 along with a MicroSD slot for additional storage. Regarding cameras, it has a triple rear setup as a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 2-megapixel (f/2.4) as a macro lens and a 2-megapixel (f/2.4) depth sensor.
Upfront, there’s a 16-megapixel (f/2.0) lens for selfies. With a fingerprint sensor mounted at the rear, it has USB 2.0 Type-C, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and an audio jack. Finally, it has a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
Pricing and Availability
The new Oppo A53 comes in two color variants as Fancy Blue and Electric Black and is priced at IDR 2,499,000 (~$169) for the sole variant of 4GB + 64GB. It’s scheduled to launch in India on August 25th, and the global availability is yet to be announced.
