OnePlus 8T will be the first phone to feature Android 11 out of the box.
Ahead of its launch on October 14, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that OnePlus 8T will launch with OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11 out-of-the-box. Pete Lau confirmed this through a forum post on Tuesday. He further revealed in the forum post that the OnePlus 8T will be the first smartphone to launch with Android 11 globally, aside from Google’s Pixel smartphones.
“With OxygenOS, we’ve always focused on giving you the fastest and smoothest flagship experience possible. Now, with the upcoming OnePlus 8T and OxygenOS 11, you’ll have what we feel is the best combination of hardware and software, letting you enjoy improved one-handed gestures for easier navigation and an overall more refined experience thanks to the 120Hz Fluid Display.” said OnePlus CEO Pete Lau.
OnePlus has also revealed earlier that the OnePlus 8T is the first phone in its portfolio to support 65W fast charging, leveraging the Warp Charge 65 technology.
Recently OnePlus CEO Pete Lau also confirmed that the company won’t launch the Pro version of OnePlus 8T. Instead, Pete Lau directs fans to choose OnePlus 8 Pro for experiencing that Pro feel.
OnePlus 8T Specifications (Expected)
According to the Geekbench listing, the OnePlus phone is powered by an SoC called “Kona” a codename for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. Nevertheless, few reports claim the OnePlus 8T to be powered by Snapdragon 865+, the upgraded variant of Snapdragon 865.
The latter report seems to be accurate as the existing OnePlus 8 series devices are already using Snapdragon 865 processor and recalling the earlier OnePlus device launch, OnePlus 7 was powered by Snapdragon 855, where as the OnePlus 7T came with Snapdragon 855+ which in line with the report of OnePlus 8T to be using Snapdragon 865+.
