After covering a detailed analysis of the higher variant Motorola Edge+ of Motorola Edge series, now let’s talk about the mid-ranger in the Edge series, the Motorola Edge. It was announced on April 22, alongside Moto Edge+.
As we already know Motorola Edge+ will go on sale starting from May 14 in the US, however, Motorola Edge will also go on sale in May but the company hasn’t revealed the exact date for sale.
The phone was originally planned to be launched at the Mobile World Congress in February but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Here is everything we know about Moto Edge.
Motorola Edge Specifications and Features
Motorola Edge will be marketed as the powerful 5G phone from Motorola at lower prices point. Let’s see how Motorola Edge features to be the powerful 5G phone with lower price.
Display
The front panel of the smartphone features the same 6.67 inches Curved OLED Display with a 90Hz refresh rate. In short, the displays on Motorola Edge+ and Edge will be the same. The display has a ~95.9% screen-to-body ratio and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and houses a fingerprint sensor under the display.
The phone also allow users to choose between the standard 60Hz refresh rate, a higher refresh rate (90Hz), and an “auto” refresh rate mode.

Camera
Here we will notice some differences as compared to the massive 108-megapixel sensor for Motorola Edge+. Here in Motorola Edge, it has a quad-camera setup with a slightly smaller 64-megapixel as the main sensor.
The configurations go as 64-megapixel, f/1.8 aperture (wide), 8-megapixel, f/2.4 aperture (telephoto), 16-megapixel, f/2.2 aperture (ultrawide), and a TOF (Time-of-flight) camera that judges depth and distance to take the photography to a new level. These camera setup can record videos of 2160p at 30fps and 1080p at 30/60fps.
On the front, it sports a single 25-megapixel, f/2.0(wide) camera which can record videos of 1080p at 30fps.
Power and Processing
In terms of power and processing, Moto Edge will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset and Adreno 620 for better graphic performance. These faster processor is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with support of UFS 2.1. The phone runs on Android 10.
Also, the phone is said to support 5G on board but the device only supports sub-6GHz frequencies and not mmWave, which is a drawback.
However, it is worth mentioning that Motorola has provided 3.5mm headphone jack in the Edge Series of Smartphones.
Battery
Although, Motorola Edge comes with the same display as Motorola Edge+. Surprisingly, the battery capacity has been somewhat lowered and not kept the same even though, Motorola Edge comes with the same 5G connectivity and a 90Hz display panel as well.
Getting to the battery, the device is powered by a Li-Po 4,500 mAh battery, which is not a deal-breaker but considering the lower power efficiency from the processor, Motorola could have gone with the same battery it has kept in Motorola Edge+, maybe to save some bucks they might have gone with the lower one.
Also, you will get the same 18W wired charging through Type-C 1.0 reversible connector but there won’t be any support for wireless charging.
Colors
Motorola Edge will come in two color variants – Midnight Magenta and Solar Black.
Price
The Motorola Edge carries a price tag of EUR 699 (approx. $756) in Europe.
