Recently Huawei came up with its new flagship-grade device to compete with the existing beasts ruling the smartphone jungle. The new device is Huawei P40 Pro.
Specification:
Design-
The design of the device is somehow quite similar to the latest Samsung S20 Ultra. Therefore the design is quite familiar for some users. The device is premium with Glass front, secondly a ceramic back, and ceramic frame. Hence, the overall thing of ceramic feel gives an amazing touch to the device.
The amazing IP68 dust/water resistance is also like a cherry on the cake for the rough side of usage.

The device comes in a variety of color options, namely – Deep Sea Blue, Ice White, Black, Blush Gold and Silver Frost. The color options are overwhelming this time. All the variant’s back is the matte-finished ceramic panel. Hence it refracts a minimal color giving a new vibe.
Display:
The company quotes the new design to be the ‘Quad-Curve Overflow Display’ that claims to be giving a good on-hand experience. The display is an OLED capacitive touchscreen. The screen size is massive 6.58 inches and comes with 2640×1200 pixels of resolution.
The screen provides an amazing approximately 92% screen to body ratio also. The other features of the screen are HDR10, a typically 90Hz refresh rate and very well rounded corners.
Performance and Memory:
Huawei P40 Pro is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G which runs on one of the latest 7nm technology. The octa-core configuration goes like 2-2.86 GHz based on Cortex-A76, 2-2.36 GHz based on Cortex-A76 & 4-1.95 GHz based on Cortex-A55.
Therefore the configuration for sure provides an efficient power consumption added to the performance. This is again coupled with Mali-G76 MC16 GPU which is able to work efficiently.

Huawei P40 Pro also supports 2G/3G/4G/5G connectivity. It comes with 256GB of internal storage and a RAM of 8GB. The storage is based on UFS 3.0 which is fast enough to handle heavy loading speed.
The device runs on the Android 10 platform with Huawei’s own Custom UI skin namely EMUI 10.1. However, the device doesn’t include popular Android apps like the Google Play Store, YouTube or Google Chrome.
Camera:
The camera on the Huawei P40 Pro can be considered as flagship-grade. The device sports a Quad-Camera setup. Firstly, there is a 50-megapixel (Wide Angle, f/1.9, OIS) snapper. Secondly, we have 40-megapixel (Ultra-Wide Angle, f/1.8), then there is 12-megapixel (Telephoto Camera, f/3.4 aperture) and lastly 3D Depth Sensing Camera as the rear unit.
On the front, the configuration is a dual punch hole camera system. This includes 32-megapixel wide-angle camera (f/2.2 aperture) and one depth sensor with it. There’s also a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor embedded in the device.
It is worth mentioning that Huawei P40 Pro has 10x optical zoom, the highest ever zoom capability seen on a phone.
The videography, however, is found to be impressive by the reviewers. The video option goes max up to 2160p@30/60fps which highly impressive.
Battery:
The device gets power from a non-removable 4200 mAh battery which is capable of amazing 40W fast charging. However, HUAWEI SuperCharge cable and charger are required for this feature. The device is also able to power up using a 27W fast wireless charger. The device weighs approx. 209 gm (including the battery).
Price:
Huawei P40 Pro will be priced at approx. $1,100 whereas the P40 Pro Plus will cost $1,500.
Overall Impression:
Huawei P40 Pro seems fabulous with its specifications. However, the device can be quite heavy on the pockets of the users. The only drawback with on paper specification is the usage of UFS3.0 storage which could have better with the given SoC.
The back panel design could also have been a little different as it looks a lot similar to Samsung S20 Ultra.
