Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro+ launched with Kirin 900 SoC


Huawei grandly unveiled its Mate 40 series, containing four handsets with amazing specifications. The lineup includes a standard Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+ and a Mate 40 RS Porsche Design. while standard and the Porsche special edition have their charm, the Pro handsets define everything of today’s launch. Here’s how;

Huawei Mate 40 Pro Specifications

The Mate 40 Pro sports a 6.76″ OLED display with 1344 x 2772p resolution. With 18.5:9 aspect ratio, it has a dual side curved display with HDR 10 and 90Hz refresh rate. Running on Android 10 based on EMUI 11, it equips the world’s fastest processor – Kirin 9000. This grand SoC is also the first octa-core processor to come with 5nm+ process and has clocking speeds of up to 3.13GHz.

Coming with Mali-G78 MP24 GPU, it has 8GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 onboard storage of with 128GB or 256GB. It retains the ring camera module at rear, housing a 50-megapixel (f/1.9) as primary sensor followed by a 20-megapixel (f/1.8) ultra-wide sensor and a 12-megapixel (f/3.4) periscopic telephoto lens with OIS and 5x optical zoom.

Upfront, there’s a 13-megapixel lens with depth sensing and 3D TOF support. With stereo speakers, Huawei ditches the headphone jack but gives other connectivity like Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, NFC, infrared red sensor and USB Type-C port. With fingerprint given under display, it has a fair 4400mAh battery with 66W fast charging and a 50W wireless charging.

Also, it comes in 5W reverse wireless charging support and Black, White or Mystic Silver finish. Also, there are vegan leather versions in Green or Yellow.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ Specifications

On the other hand, the Mate 40 Pro+ shares the same specifications of its counterpart, with slight upgrades in the camera. While it retains the capabilities of display, processor, battery, and connectivities, it upgrades the telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and strips the 20-megapixel lens to f/2.4 aperture. Further, it adds an extra 8-megapixel (f/4.4) as a telephoto lens.

The rear primary sensor and the front camera remains the same. And this flagship model is available in Ceramic White and Ceramic Black and Ceramic White colors.

Pricing and Availability


The Mate 40 Pro is priced at €899 ($1,060) for the 8GB + 128GB variant, the 8GB + 256GB model is priced at €1,199 ($1,415). The Mate 40 Pro+ on the other hand is priced at €1,399 ($1,651) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The M-Pen, Huawei’s stylus for Mate 40 handsets is sold separately for €99 ($117).
