Google launches Chromecast with Google TV with a dedicated remote and 4K HDR support

Google Chromecast with Google TV is priced at $49.99 in the US


Google just launched the Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a 5G in the US. Accompanying the Pixel phones, Google Chromecast was also unveiled at the event. This ‘Chromecast with Google TV’ is somehow similar to the previous Chromecast devices, however, this time all new Chromecast has got its own interface and a dedicated remote.

Technically, this new device has been designed to meet the year 2020 standards. It has the capabilities of outputting 4K HDR at 60Hz along with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HDR10 support and it can process Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos pass-through. The all new Chromecast also features dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth through which Chromecast get connected.

Unlike previous Chromecast, the newly launched Chromecast also has a dedicated remote that has the navigation pad at the top, volume buttons on the side and a shortcut buttons for Google’s own product Google Assistant and YouTube, alongside the Netflix shortcut as well. This dedicated remote has a built-in accelerometer that can be used in games.

It also features a new Watchlist feature that integrates with user’s Google account to let them add contents to the watchlist from any app or device. The new Chromecast with Google TV runs on the new Google TV platform, a new branding for the Android TV platform.

The new Chromecast weighs 55 grams, while the remote weighs 63 grams. The dedicated remote takes two AAA batteries for power source, where as the Chromecast has a USB Type-C power adapter on the dongle.

The Chromecast with Google TV is priced at $49.99 in the US and is already available in the US. The device is will be available in other countries by the end of the year.

The new Chromecast with Google TV will be available in three color options – Snow, Sunrise, and Sky. The device is open for pre-orders in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the U.K and will be available for purchase starting October 15.
