Wordle today: What is the answer for August 9 and what is the meaning?

In the word game Wordle, participants must determine the five-letter word of the day.

Since it was introduced in October, the web game has become immensely popular, attracting thousands of players daily.

Josh Wardle, a Welsh software engineer, first made a prototype of the game in 2013, but he didn't finish it until January 2021, when he worked on it with his companion Palak Shah during lockdown.

In January, Wardle "for an unknown fee in the low seven figures" sold the game to The New York Times.
